“Then what are you waiting for?” she breathed, darting across the room.

On a growl, I sprang for her, our lips meeting, our arms tangling as we fell onto the couch. Her legs fell apart, her pelvis tilting in silent offering. Biting down on her lip, I thrust deep inside, her pussy fluttering and clamping down around my shaft as I filled her. Pinning her arms above her head, I swiveled my hips and thrust back inside her welcoming heat. She was slick and hot, her body welcoming the intrusion, craving our joining.

“Harder,” she whimpered, her nails clawing at my wrists, her head thrown back as her body shook with each pounding thrust.

Her inner walls rippled around me, squeezing and dragging at my shaft. Letting go of her arms, I cupped her breasts, pushing them together so I could tongue and tease the hardened nipples, dragging each peak into my mouth to swirl around my tongue, letting her feel the edge of my teeth.

“James,” she moaned, her hands dancing down to my ass and grabbing.

“Time for a change,” I grunted, pulling out of her.

She gasped at the sudden loss, her chest flushed and heaving as she dragged in a breath.

Not waiting, I flipped her over and thrust back into her, the angle deeper now, letting me work my cock against her inner walls, searching for that spot—

She let out a strangled wail, her hands clawing at the cushions, her ass thrusting up and back to meet my cock.

Gripping her hips, I focused.
That
spot—I kept the strokes short, shallow digs, focusing on the shudders wracking her body—right
there.

She erupted, her core clamping down on me tight, her face buried in a cushion to muffle her screams. Grinding herself against me in wild abandonment, she whimpered.

That was my cue. Curling around her, I cupped her jaw, pulling her back for a long, languid kiss. “Hold on,” I whispered, then let go, rocking into her in plunging strokes, her hot, tight pussy caressing every inch of me, right down to my balls. The familiar tingling started, rocketing up through me. I locked my legs at the knee, the tingling becoming a throbbing as hot come spurted from me in pulsating jets, dragging with it a hoarse roar of climax.

Kara stiffened beneath me, the bond echoing and wringing yet another orgasm from her lips, her hips bucking as she moaned deep and low.

I half collapsed onto her, careful to brace myself on one arm. Our skin slid together, slick with sweat and burning hot. “Thank you,” I whispered, nuzzling her hair out of the way to kiss her neck. I’d never put it into words, but she had to know—she’d become my rock, my anchor in a messed up world. Without her, I would be lost.

Together, we crumpled onto the couch, curling around each other in a tangle of arms and legs. Pulling her head onto my chest, I traced a finger down her arm, riding the aftershocks that echoed through the bond.

Her lips curved up as she let out a loud, heartfelt sigh. “I still can’t believe it’s this good—you and me. I never knew it could be like this,” she murmured while petting my chest, her hand following the sweeping line of my pecs.

“And now?”

“I know I should feel guilty, being this happy when… But I can’t.”

“And you shouldn’t. We’re in love; it’s that simple.” And to me, it was. I had waited so long to find her. I damn well wasn’t going to let anything stop us from being happy. “Our love is about you and me—no one else. Why can’t you be happy
and
sad at the same time? It doesn’t make either emotion any less valid.”

She blinked at me, her eyes suspiciously watery. “When did you get to be so wise? And don’t give me some bullshit about it being an
Alpha
 power.”

I choked back a startled laugh. “Maybe I was inspired,” I quipped, ducking my head as she took a halfhearted swipe at me.

She pursed her lips, and I couldn’t resist stealing another kiss. “By
you
, silly. I’m angry and worried and stressed by everything, but at the same time, I’m also grateful and happy and as goddamn horny as a teenage pup!”

“Horny, huh?” she murmured, her hand snaking down my stomach. “How about we up the stakes?”

Her hand wrapped around my cock, sliding down in a languid stroke.

“What are you thinking?” My hips jerked and I bit the inside of my cheek, stifling the urge to groan.

“I’m thinking that
three
rounds might not have been enough practice, and maybe we should go for four…”

My cock hardened at the thought. “Or five?”

“Or six—” Her words were lost on a shriek as I rolled on top of her, covering her mouth with mine.

Practice makes perfect, after all.

Blood Kiss

When a kiss isn't just a kiss...

by Cristina Rayne

A bonus scene to
Blood Escort

Part of the
Tales from the Vampire Underground
series

About this scene

Abby knows that she shouldn’t test Isaac’s control whenever their activities include him sinking his fangs in her. His first bite was reminder enough, but a comment from another vampire about how amazing a Blood Kiss must be for a human during sex makes her think it just might be worth the risk. The problem is convincing Isaac of the same.

Blood Kiss
A bonus scene to
Blood Escort

From the wary look Isaac suddenly directed at her as she entered his apartment, Abby knew that the game was up. What had given her away? She hadn’t dressed any differently tonight, just the usual jeans and simple blouse she often wore to class. Was her smile a little too bright? Nervous, maybe? Could he see it in her eyes or her body language?

Her eyes narrowed. Or—could he read her mind after all even though he had sworn up and down that he couldn’t?

“Just tell me,” he said before she could speak.

“Who says I was going to tell you anything particularly special?” Abby replied defensively.

Isaac’s lips slowly curved up into a sexy smile that had the power to make all sense leak out of her ears, and damn him, he damned well knew it. Pressing his advantage, he moved towards her, every movement from his gait to the swing of his arms as fluid and graceful as a black panther stalking his prey.

Although something deep in her psyche recognized the danger whenever his behavior blatantly revealed his vampire nature and often caused her heart to spasm painfully with a burst of primal fear, Abby loved that he never pretended to be anything else other than what he was, at least, not after that first weekend together. Maybe it appealed to her naughty side that got a thrill from the very real risk to her life every time they were alone together.

Until Isaac, she had never realized she
had
 a naughty side.

He slid his arms around her and pulled her flush against the defined muscles of his chest that Abby could feel quite well through the thin material of his t-shirt. She had to fight to keep from melting in his arms like she always did. Then from one blink to the next, she felt his lips brush teasingly against her own. She didn’t even see him move.

“Something’s been on your mind since last weekend,” he murmured from only an inch away from her lips as she blinked at him stupidly, suddenly feeling lightheaded from whatever vampy power he always seemed to be unconsciously exerting against her whenever they touched intimately. “I didn’t notice it at first, but after a couple of days, it was hard for me
not
to notice since you were constantly tensing up at odd intervals with no rhyme or reason.”

Abby frowned. Was she really that transparent?

“It’s nothing bad if that’s what you’re worried about. At least, I don’t think it is.”

The wariness left his eyes, and Isaac straightened, tilting his head curiously. “Now I’m intrigued.”

Feeling a little more clearheaded with more distance between their mouths, Abby continued, “I was talking to Cybele at the club while you were off having your ‘for vamp ears only’ chat with your boss.”

Isaac groaned. “I can well imagine what you two talked about.”

“She’s just blunt,” she said with a shrug. “Unlike some of the vampires I’ve crossed paths with at the club, she never talks down to me just because I’m human. I like her.”

“Most of us do,” he agreed, “but there’s such a thing as being
too
blunt. She’s caused a lot of major problems over the centuries for the Vampire Underground because she doesn’t have one diplomatic cell in her body.”

“Well, since whatever I say has zero weight when it comes to vampire politics, I guess she just wanted what she thought would be a neutral, sympathetic ear to her complaints because I’d once had my mind tinkered with by Ryker.”

Isaac stiffened. “Even bringing up his name where others can hear you is never wise.”

Abby remembered the very casual way Ryker had spoken about killing and shivered. “Yeah, I got that memo loud and clear.”

He stared at her hard for a long moment, probably wondering if she really meant it or was just trying to placate him. “So?” he said finally. “What do you and your encounter with Ryker have to do with these complaints?”

“It was about her human lovers and how, apparently, Ryker was going behind her back and erasing certain things from their minds after their encounters. She doesn’t hide that vibe of ‘otherness’ about her as well as you do—especially during sex—so a few of them often start to wonder if she’s something other than just a really gorgeous woman.”

“Something she’s well aware
must
be done,” Isaac said. “If it weren’t for the fact that she’s one of the king’s favorites…but never mind that. Is it the fact that Ryker’s going around erasing memories that’s been bothering you? Are you afraid that he’s going to do it again to
you
?”

Abby shook her head. “While that’s certainly a scary thought, the fact that your Enforcer’s been erasing minds isn’t the part of our conversation that I’ve been thinking about. Talking about sleeping with humans made her comment about how she envied me for being a human in a relationship with a vampire. She gushed about how amazing a Blood Kiss must be for a human during sex. She seemed pretty shocked that I had no idea what she was talking about.”

Isaac growled, his arms involuntarily tightening uncomfortably around her waist in his sudden agitation. “I’m absolutely going to
kill
 her!”

“You’re not the only one,” Abby seconded, tugging at his arms until he loosened them with a contrite look in his eyes. “She told me I had to ask
you
to explain! She said she didn’t want to ruin the fun.”

“Abby—you know I don’t dare do anything involving blood while we’re making love.”

She pushed her back against his arms firmly until he reluctantly released her. She then took him by the arm and led him over to the couch, pushing him to sit down before she moved to straddle his lap. It always amused her when she was able to manhandle him into doing anything, knowing that she was only able to move him at all because
he
allowed it. The sense of power it gave her knowing that such an incredible being chose to surrender to her whims was exhilarating, especially after the way her last boyfriend had left her feeling so hurt and powerless after their messy breakup.

His eyes flashed briefly with lust and just a tinge of the veins of red that always threaded through his dark eyes when his vampire nature surfaced. However, his hands stayed at his sides as though he didn’t trust himself to touch her right then, even when she bent down and kissed him hard.

“All the same, I’d like to hear what a Blood Kiss is. Then we’ll talk about it.”

Isaac sighed. “If you knew how close my control is to snapping whenever I’m aroused and anywhere near you, you wouldn’t be so curious to try it. Is a Blood Kiss an incredible experience? Yes, it is. I won’t lie to you about that. However, it’s the very reason why I’m no longer human.”

Abby gasped. It was the last thing she had expected him to say. No wonder Cybele hadn’t wanted to tell her about it. Speaking of another vampire’s turning without their permission was one of the few taboo things within vampire society. The gravity of it was reinforced by the very fact that even Cybele, whose tongue knew no bounds, would respect that unspoken rule.

“You never have told me the name of your Sire,” Abby said softly.

“That’s because that vampire has no importance in my life. I’m what’s known as a ‘Blood-Orphan,’ a newly changed vampire who has either been abandoned by their Sire or whose Sire was killed before they could learn much of anything about our vampire society. I was abandoned, a mistake. I was just supposed to be her meal for the night. However, the Blood Kiss we indulged in went a little too far, but it was enough to start the change in me. To save her own skin, she was forced to complete it. If I had died, she would’ve had to face Ryker’s judgment, or worse, our king’s.”
