Sal winced.

“Surprised we figured it out? Oh, you’re not the first to try pitting two powerful entities against one another by killing an innocent and hoping one unit would retaliate against the other,” Luca added, stepping from the wall and advancing toward them. “I guess it’s just a shame I happened to fall for a woman who isn’t your evil bitch of a daughter.”

“You son–of–a–bitch!” Sal raged. His struggle against his restraints was stilled by a sharp pain in his side. Looking to his side, he found the strange redhead holding the hilt of the dagger sticking in him. He recognized that the wound was done to inflict pain, not to kill. This was going to be a long, agonizing process.

“Can we please hurry this along? Luca asked as he lifted a jagged, medieval–looking saw from a nearby table. “I have a beautiful wife and honeymoon to get back to, after all.”

“Yes. And I suppose I should be getting back to my so called unit, since they’ve served so nicely as a cover for me,” Calvin added.

“It shouldn’t take long,” Aiko said more to Sal than anyone else. “Our little friends found your cousin quite tasty. Perhaps they’ll enjoy you just as much.”

The last thing to register in Sal’s mind was the obnoxious squeal of greedy pigs.
