Things seemed to be looking up over the next month or so. Jackie didn’t get any help from their family anymore, which was obvious because of the way their parents acted when they found out. Jackie thought about reasoning with them, but she found out shortly after that she was blocked on all social media accounts, thereby nullifying any chance of actually getting to them and apologizing for what they had done. It sucked, but that was the way life worked. She could only hope that it was going to get better with time.

But it did hurt. Even though Jackie had Brandon by her side, and they made plans to continue this for the future and for the child, Jackie felt like this was all terrible. She didn’t choose this life to be disowned by her parents, but rather it was a life that was forced upon her, and now she didn’t know what the hell to do. To be honest, the fact that they were so quick to do away with her scared Jackie to no end, and the fact that they were so scared of what might happen next made Jackie quibble in fear. She didn’t wat them to think that she was some awful person, but rather she was someone who wanted to have a better life and one that was filled with happiness.

But, Jackie got a great job as an office secretary. They knew that she was pregnant, and she was grunted paid maternity leave, which h was something that many people here age never got before they were old. Apparently Jackie was very qualified for her job though, and they liked her immediately. That was relieving in a sense, because it would make the concept of bills and the future payments of their child that much better because they would have the resources that they needed.

Brandon also got a better job as well. He started to take courses in welding and building items, and soon he was working for a better construction company. He wasn’t doing the grunt work, but rather he was building more complex items and welding items together, and soon the two of them were making more money than when Jackie was getting help from their parents. It made Jackie happy, but at the same time, thinking about them made her sad. Why did they do what they did? It pissed her off, and it was something that she wouldn’t be able to forgive for a very long time.

She had always been taught to forgive others for when they wrong. Of course this was taught to her by the one woman who didn’t forgive her daughter for what she did. Rather, she belittled Jackie, and soon she made Jackie feel worse than ever before. But Jackie knew that she wouldn’t live in the same footsteps as that hypocrite. Maybe they would come around. Maybe.

About two months had passed, and it was time for the ultrasound to find out about the baby. Jackie was about five months along now, and they would find out the gender of the baby. The two of them stepped in, looking at the others in the clinic.

“My, I wonder what our fate is going to be,” she stated.

“I think it’ll be okay. I know that shit can hit the fan with the pregnancy, but I know that you’ve been careful, and I can assure you, whatever the case, I will help you out as well,” he replied.

Jackie smiled, realizing how easy it was to talk with Brandon about this type of shit. It was definitely a great resource for her to have, especially since Jackie couldn’t do this on her own.

They waited a little while, as what most do whenever they have to go to the doctor, and soon they were called. The two of them scampered in, and when they got in there, Jackie started to get the dressing gown on. After a bit, the gynecologist came in, a nice older woman who smiled at her.

“Hello there Jackie. Hello Brandon. How have things been? Di the prenatal vitamins that I gave help?” she asked.

“It did. Thanks. It’s been a whole lot better for me,” Jackie admitted.

“I’m glad. So we’re checking the baby right? Let’s see how you’re doing,” she replied.

They started to do this, completely with the ultrasound. The doctor then looked at Jackie, and then she looked at the results.

“Well, it looks like the two of you will be having a little girl,” she pointed out.

Jackie was so excited. She couldn’t believe it, they would have a girl. Jackie was definitely excited about all of this, but then, the doctor frowned once again.

“But, there is a bit of an issue that’s coming about. The baby’s heart rate is way too high, and it’s putting stress on him. I’m going to have to ask you to refrain from physical activity for a while,” she told Jackie.

“Oh. Okay,” Jackie replied.

“Also, with the way your body is, the pregnancy is going to be very hard on you. We might have to do a C-section, if that’s okay,” she offered.

Jackie looked over at Brandon, a bit worried about this.

“Don’t worry, you’re still beautiful Jackie,” he told her.

Jackie smiled. He was so sweet, even though Jackie knew that this baby was going to fuck her up in a sense. She didn’t want to be cut open, but rather she wanted to just have the baby come out naturally.

“Do I have to see you do it?” she asked.

“no, but we can arrange it so that it’s easy on you and you don’t have to worry about anything. There might be some mild scarring, but that’s it. It’s just going to be a nightmare for you if you choose to have a natural birth. It looks like it might end up being a breech baby, but I’m not too sure yet. However, I would suggest you do something that’s a bit safer and just have the baby come out through a C-section,” the doctor said.

Jackie pondered it. If it was safer on her and she could still have the baby, then she was going to go for it.

“Sounds good to me,” Jackie replied.

“Good. Well that settles it. Just keep doing what you’re doing, but be gentler on the baby. Remember you have another person in side of you,” the doctor stated.

Jackie nodded. She realized that, and that’s what worried her. She didn’t know how she was going to deal with this, and she felt nervous like no other. After a little bit, the two of them left, and when they got to the car, Jackie started to put her head in her hands. Brandon looked at her, concerned about everything.

“What’s wrong baby?” he asked.

“I’m scared Brandon. I really am. I’ve never seen a C-section before, but I know that they’re going to cut you up, and you know how much I hate needles and knives,” she stated.

“I know. Trusty me, I remember when we were younger and how you screamed when you got your shots. But remember that I was always there. I was always there holding your hand and making sure that you were able to deal with the pain in an effective manner. Give me some credit, because I will be there the entire time,” he replied.

Jackie nodded. “Thank you Brandon. I’m just nervous about this pregnancy period. I’ve tried to take it easy, but I am a bit stressed, and to be honest I don’t know how much more of this I can take. But I’m trying, I really am, and to be honest, I’m only able to continue with a smile on my face because of you,” she admitted.

“Same. You’re the reason why I’ve continued to be honest. I never thought that I would let you go through with this, but to be honest, it’s probably the best decision I’ve made. I want you to be safe Jackie, and this is how you’re going to be safe. I’ll be right there with you, and I will make sure that you’re able to get what you need, when you need it,” he replied.

Jackie smiled. It was nice to have such a loving, and caring man in her life.

“Thank you Brandon. To be honest, I don’t think I would ever be able to go through with the pregnancy but you’re with me, and I will continue to go through until I have the baby. Come hell or high water, I will make sure that this baby comes out alive, and I will have it. The two of us created a life together, and I’m not going to give this up. I love you too much, and we’ve already gone so far,” she admitted.

“I agree. And don’t you worry, because I’m not going to leave you hanging either. I’m going to be there for you now, and forever. You can count on me to make sure that you get out of this alive and well,” he replied.

Jackie smiled, and the two of them brushed their lips together in a simple, loving gesture. It was so perfect in Jackie’s head, so damn perfect, and Jackie was certainly happy about it all. It was definitely what she wanted, what she craved, and Jackie knew for a fact that this was the start of a beautiful, great relationship that was only going to get better with time. She would continue to support him n whatever means possible, and Jackie knew that it was only going to get better from here. She just had to put faith in herself, in Brandon, and in the future that they had.

“Let’s rock this. This pregnancy will be okay,” Jackie stated.

About three and a half months passed and Jackie was struggling. She was ready for the baby to come out, and Brandon could see the toll that it was taking on the body. It wasn’t good for either of them, because Brandon was fraught with worry about everything Jackie was doing. She had gotten big, and Jackie knew for a fact that it wasn’t going to be pretty when she did have the baby.

Sure enough, her water broke two weeks later. She was a week early, and Jackie had this happen while she was at home cooking dinner. She immediately called Brandon, feeling frantic about it all. Dinner was stopped, and Jackie was immediately rushed over to the hospital. Brandon was able to get out of work in a good amount of time, and son the two of them were at the hospital.

“Shit the contractions are becoming worse,” Jackie moaned.

“It’ll be okay,” he replied.

Jackie knew that Brandon was just trying to stay positive, but it was proving to be hard on both of them. It hurt like no other, but within a couple minutes, Jackie was in a room. They stripped her, putting a gown on her, and soon the doctor was there.

“Okay, let me check everything,” he stated.

Sure enough, the baby was going to be a breach if she wasn’t careful. The doctor looked at her, gazing at Jackie’s worried face.

“I’m going to have to do a C-section. I’ll be giving you anesthetic,” he stated.

Jackie nodded, filled with worry about what was going to happen. The doctor pushed a needle into her back, and Jackie screamed out. Brandon held her hand, and Jackie tried to breathe, but it was scary as hell. Jackie couldn’t believe that it was happening like this, that she was going to be giving birth.

The pain was excruciating, and she could feel the contractions trying to push the baby out. No, this wasn’t how it was going to happen, she wasn’t going to push it out. All of a sudden, she stopped feeling pain though in another area, and Jackie started to feel a bit loopy as well.

“What?” she asked.

“Don’t worry. You’re just drugged. I’m going to take the baby out,” the doctor stated.

Jackie just laid there, looking over at Brandon. He was in shock at everything, stunned at the nature of all of this. It probably wasn’t pretty, but Jackie was so out of it because of the drugs that it was hard. They were probably mild anesthetics, and they were used to dull the pain, but Jackie could feel her mental senses dulling as well. She felt mentally exhausted, and she didn’t even have to push the damn baby out.

Within moments, there was something pulled out of he. She could see the tissues, and to be honest, it was disgusting. There was something attached to a mass, what seemed to be a placenta, and soon the doctor cut that off, tying it up to create a belly button. Then, the doctor lightly slapped the baby, and soon it started crying.

“Thank god,” Brandon said.

So the baby was alive. Jackie felt something start to move at her stomach area, and she realized that she was getting stitched up. She felt dazed by it all, but after a couple of moments, the bed was lightly propped up, and soon Jackie was looking at the doctor.

“Congratulations Jackie, you are now the mother of a baby girl, the doctor stated.

Jackie held the child, a little infant that looked so tiny that she felt completely astounded. She couldn’t believe that it was happening in this way, and that Jackie was able to have this person in her arms. She definitely felt happy by it all, and after a moment, Jackie managed to speak

“Hello there Alice,” she said out loud. That was the name that they chose, and Jackie was happy about that. It was perfect for her in a sense, and Jackie felt happy.

“I love the name,” Brandon said.

“I do too. She’s ours, and I’m going to cherish her,” Jackie replied.

The two of them just stood there, looking at the life that they created. They then looked at each other, kissing softly. It was the start of a new life for this little one, but for them as well. Jackie wondered how things were going to work out in the future, but she was happy.

However, sleep overtook Jackie, the stress of the situation making her go crazy. She passed out, feeling tired like no other, and Jackie was definitely amazed at the feelings that she got from this. She was definitely happy with it all, but she wondered how things were going to go. However, when she woke up, she would be seeing a familiar face, someone that she didn’t want to see at this moment. But Jackie wasn’t going to let it cloud her day, for now she was going to sleep soundly and recover from everything that she had just done today. She deserved it, that she was sure of.

When Jackie woke up, she noticed that Brandon was right next to her with the child. However, there was another person next to him as well, and soon Jackie started to rouse.

“What?” she stated out loud.

“Hey there babe. Apparently you have a visitor. You’ve been out for about ten hours,” he told her.

Jackie felt like she could sleep for another ten. The pressure of childbirth wasn’t a joke. She didn’t want to do that again.

But the person that was in front of her was someone that she didn’t want to see, someone that she was worried about seeing because of what had happened in the past, and what could happen right now. This woman walked out of her life and didn’t want shit to do with Jackie, but now she was right in front of Jackie, holding her child and looking at her daughter.

“What are you doing here?” Jackie asked. She wanted to sound meaner, but it sounded more ditzy and dazed than anything.

“I’m sure you’re wondering why in the world the mother who disowned you is here right now holding your child,” she stated.

“Well yeah, I don’t feel comfortable with this,” Jackie admitted.

She didn’t like the fact that this woman thought that she could just waltz right in and take over the duties. Jackie wasn’t a kid anymore, but rather she was an adult who knew how to actually take care of a life. She was a mother.

“So what do you want? Care to talk more crap about Brandon and me? Here to disown me a second time,” Jackie asked her. She was too tired for this shit, but apparently the woman that was in front of her thought otherwise.

“Actually I’m here to say something to you, something that I think from one mother to another should be said,” she told her.

“Well what is it? I didn’t ask for her grandparents to come to the hospital. Only family allowed,” Jackie stated.

“Well I came here to make amends with you. I still think that you made a dumb decision, but I’m willing to forgo those feelings for your daughter. She is a beautiful girl, and she will grow up to be like her mother probably. Except without the dumb mistakes of course,” she stated.

Jackie looked at her, wondering why in the world she was even trying to apologize.

“Nice try at an apology, but I don’t want it,” Jackie stated. She didn’t want to deal with this right now, that’s for sure

“I know that you don’t. I’m doing it to clear my own conscience. I know that it’s been hard for Brandon and you. I now that the two of you have been working hard to provide this child with the life that it needs, and to be honest, I still think that you’re going to be a great mom. I know that I’ve made my own mistakes I the past, and I’m worry for that. I know that you don’t have it in your hearty to forgive me, but I think if you do have an ounce of forgiveness, I hope you can give it to me,” she replied.

Jackie looked at her. That was the worst fucking apology ever.

“I’ve heard better apologies out of my mortal enemies. Please leave. I don’t want to deal with you right now. But I accept your apology I guess. If you’re willing to reconcile for what you’ve done to Brandon and I, and if you’re willing to be there for the child only and not try to ruin my life in the process, then fine. But you’re not the boss of me anymore mom. I’m the boss of myself, and I will let my child grow to be a good, helpful human being, not one who gets punished if they go outside the lines for a moment,” Jackie stated.

“Fair enough. I’m sorry, but I guess I’m going to have to work to earn the trust that we had before. Brandon, your father still refuses to acknowledge your relationship and this child, but I do think you’ll be a good father. Take care of Jackie, and I hope the two of you are happy with the new life that you’ve brought into this world. I can help you if you want, or if not, you can pretend that I never existed. My number will always be open if you choose to contact me, that is all I can state,” she told them.

“Thank you,” Jackie stated without any emotion.

The woman walked out, and soon Jackie looked over at Brandon.

“Do you think I did the right thing? I mean, I tried to forgive her, but that apology was just terrible. And I feel like she’s only here for Alice. I’m still worried about trusting her to be honest,” Jackie admitted.

“I get that. I mean, I don’t accept it either, and I knew that my father would still hate our relationship. It came with the territory. What we did was pretty taboo, but not illegal, but I’m willing to take responsibility for my actions and not let them go unharmed,” he replied.

Jackie nodded. “Same. I will give this child the life that I want. I will finish up school, and then work to provide this child with the best life she can have. I’m already almost done with classes, so I just need to keep going balls to the wall with it, and I’m sure that I’ll get done in due time. But I think it’s best that we just keep this relationship between us, and we continue to have the life that we wanted.”

“Yeah. I mean it sucks that my own father won’t even acknowledge the fact that I did this, and that I am in love with someone, although it is a bit atypical, but the truth is, I’m happier than I’ve ever been before, and I want to take care of you, so I’m going to do whatever the hell it takes to make you happy, and I will make sure that I take care of you in ways that I’ve always wanted to. I’m going to be by your side forever Jackie. I also have something to give you too,” he replied.

Jackie grabbed Alice, holding her in her arms. What was it that he wanted to give her? Sure enough, she knew immediately when he got down on one knee, smiling at her as he grasped a small box.

“I know that it isn’t much, but the truth is I want to have all of you. Will you marry me Jackie?” he asked.

Jackie was in shock. Tears started to flood down her face as she held Alice there. Obviously this wasn’t the best place in the world to propose to a girl, but they would manage. She was just happy that he even did this.

“I do Brandon. I will marry you. We will be the perfect family that we can be, and I will make sure to treat you right and better than ever before,” she replied.

The two of them smiled at one another as Brandon got up, fitting the ring on her finger. It was a perfect fit, just like how Brandon was to her. After a moment or so they kissed, holding Alice between them as they felt the love that had grown between them only make things even better. Jackie was still reeling from everything, especially the fact that she was able to finally have the life that she’s always wanted with this person.

Jackie still felt like she was in some sort of dream, especially when it came to this relationship. Who would’ve thought her band-boy military brother would actually end up being her lover? He did mess up in the past, just like how Jackie had as well, but the truth is, they were both happy with one another, and they learned from their mistakes. Having Alice in their life allowed them to do something that the two of them never thought was possible. That was the concept of starting over, to give the other the best life that they can, and to be something that they have always wanted to be. That was what made Jackie and Brandon happy at the end of the day, and that was the emotion that they felt right now.

The two of them stayed like this for a while, both of them realizing that they were starting on a new pathway that they never thought they would be on. But they were happy to be like this, with Alice in their arms and the two of them being happy. They were going to give their child the best life they can, in order to give each other the loving life that they’ve wanted now, and for a very long time into the future.
